I finally started working as a volunteer dog-walker on Animal Humane New Mexico’s main campus (615 Virginia Street SE). I also work at the thrift shop on Menaul sorting and pricing donations, although there is no animal interaction there. I worked with my mentor this past Sunday for a few hours walking with a really sweet pair of rottweiler mixes named Micky and Mallory, a pretty pit bull, Darla, and an older rottweiler cross, Naomi. Looking forward to working with more puppers on Sunday afternoons! This volunteer work is not only rewarding knowing I am walking and giving much-needed social interaction for these dogs, but it helps to keep me relaxed and optimistic for the upcoming week.
