Animal Humane NM

I finally started working as a volunteer dog-walker on Animal Humane New Mexico’s main campus (615 Virginia Street SE). I also work at the thrift shop on Menaul sorting and pricing donations, although there is no animal interaction there. I worked with my mentor this past Sunday for a few hours walking with a really sweet pair of rottweiler mixes named Micky and Mallory, a pretty pit bull, Darla, and an older rottweiler cross, Naomi. Looking forward to working with more puppers on Sunday afternoons! This volunteer work is not only rewarding knowing I am walking and giving much-needed social interaction for these dogs, but it helps to keep me relaxed and optimistic for the upcoming week. I am proud to be an AHNM volunteer! Please visit this link to learn more about Animal Humane, the great work they do, and how you may be able to participate, donate, or adopt! Van Life

One thing I’ve started taking an interest in recently is the growing number of “van life” YouTubers. Minimalism has always intrigued me and inspired me. I try to cut out as much extra, un-needed stuff from my life on a regular basis as I can. I’m already a lover of all things organizational — I am a computer programmer after all. I started down the rabbit-hole with videos of dudes living in their converted truck beds, such as this YouTuber, The Homeless Firefighter.

Then I ventured on to other vloggers ranging from living in a Prius, all the way up a renovated 1970’s-era RV. Even wee man has gotten into the trend. All of these people seem really awesome to hang out with, and of course, really down-to-Earth. Amazon has also jumped on the minimalist bandwagon and is selling entire pre-fabricated tiny homes (with free shipping of course). It seems us millenials are tired of trying to find affordable housing and all of the debt attachments that come with it. We have found a new way of living.

Hello world!

This is my first-ever blog post. I’m starting this blog as a means to release some of the thoughts, ideas, and interests I accrue over the days, months, and years. Consider it a therapy for myself, with the collateral benefit that the internet gets to observe some (hopefully) entertaining original content.
